Hi!
My name is Brett Doyle. My wife and I live along the Jersey Shore with our daughter, 2 Shiba-Inus, and 2 mixed cats. If you read Fuji's story on our Home Page, you already know the story behind our company "Your Healthy Pet Shop".
We both grew up around animals. I actually lived in upstate New York - my family had a fairly large kennel where we bred Siberian Huskies. I've assisted in literally hundreds (if not thousands) of births. If you've never witnessed a live birth, I can tell you - it's an amazing thing. Mother Nature is just incredible in how she installs all these instincts into animals. A bitch (sorry, female dog) who has never had puppies knows exactly what to do - just as much as seasoned females do.
Mother Nature is also responsible for some of the things animals do that are not necessarily healthy. Take hot spots for instance. I can see no logical reason why a dog would scratch, lick and bite himself into a frenzy - often resulting in some pretty serious mutilations - many of which go well beyond hot spots.
We got lucky with Fuji in that we caught his hot spot in time. But the amount of damage he did that one night was incredible. Basically chewing through his skin - right down to the bone.
